Notice of Proposed ES-2re Rulemaking
This final rule revises the agency’s regulation on anthropomorphic test devices to add specifications and qualification requirements for the 5th percentile adult female crash test dummy, called the SID–IIs Build Level D (‘‘SID-IIs’’) test dummy and for a new mid-size adult male crash test dummy, called the ‘‘ES-2re’’ test dummy. NHTSA plans to use these dummies in an upgraded Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard on side impact protection.
